Feile na nGael 2005 - Primary Schools

The Feile opened in glorious sunshine at St Patrick’s Park Portaferry with the Primary schools competition in hurling and camogie along with skills and poc fada in both codes.  

The first game involved St. Mary’s Portaferry and St. Patrick’s Ballygalget in the Div. A hurling final. The St. Mary’s side won convincingly on a 7-10 to 1-3 scoreline. Best for Portaferry were Luke Carlin, Conor Savage and Conor O Neill while Ballygalget never gave up until the final whistle. 

The winning Portaferry team were Sean Savage, Shay Mc Mullan, Luke Carlin, Conor O Neill, Peter Mason, Sean Mageean, Eoghan Sands, Conor Savage, Caolan Dorrian, Danny Gilmore, Chris Mc Carthy and Daniel Doran (Ref: P. O Neill).

In the Camogie final, Kilclief P.S. met Ballygalget P.S. resulting in a victory for the Ards school by 5-8 to 1-0. Best for Ballygalget were Claire Keith, Eimear Dynes and Emma O Connor while Kilclief’s best were Connie Fitzsimons and Niamh Fitzsimmons.

Ballygalget Team: Claire Keith, Nuala Smyth, Aoife Savage, Danielle Toner, Ursula Toner, Eimear Dynes, Olivia Fay, Colleen Clarke, Amy Coulter, Carla Johnston, Emma O Connor and Brid mc Gourty (Ref: C.Hanvey).

In the Division 2 Hurling final, St Patrick’s Hilltown proved too strong for St. Patrick’s Downpatrick in a well contested game. Conor Grant, Shay Murnin and Barry O Hagan were best for the winners while Caolan Burns, Gareth Mc Veigh and Conor Mc Grady excelled for the Downpatrick side.
