President's Awards

Irish Examiner President’s Awards

The second annual Irish Examiner GAA President’s Awards ceremony will take place in the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork on Sunday June 5th. The ceremony will be held in Cork as part of the city’s celebrations as the European Capital of Culture.  The Awards are designed to recognise outstanding commitment and long time service to the GAA by acknowledging the achievements and dedication to the Association of individuals across the country. Nomination forms are available in the Irish Examiner and nominations can also be made online by email to presidentsawards@examiner.ie.

The idea for an Awards scheme of this type arose from the work of the Social Awards Work Group under the Chairmanship of Jim Forbes. The awards will again be sponsored by the Irish Examiner and Work Group chairman Jim Forbes said, “Whether on the field of play or through the involvement of our members at Club, County or Provincial Council level, the GAA has always been fortunate to possess outstanding individuals who have served the Association with distinction. We believe that the President’s awards are a wonderful opportunity to reward this type of contribution and I would encourage people to nominate those in their clubs who they feel might be worthy of such recognition.”

Closing date for receipt of nominations is Wednesday May 4th.

Further information is available from Jim Forbes at (086) 2664413
