Defeat for Down sides in Ulster hurling club games

Friday, October 07, 2005

In the Ulster club IHC, Down side Liatroim were defeated by Keady from Armagh, while in the JHC, Darragh Cross went under to the Donegal champions, Burt.

In domestic hurling news Liatroim defeated Kilclief in the U-16 HC, while in the U-14 HC final Ballygalget overcame Ballycran by 3-16 to 1-5. In the U-12 HC Warrenpoint defeated Carryduff, while Ballyvarley were too good for Bredagh.

On the domestic hurling front, the SHC final which was to be played on Sunday has been cancelled until Sunday week when holders, Ballygalget will meet Ballycran at the Portaferry venue.

The reason for the cancellation is that Ballygalget’s Graham Clarke and Martin Coulter will be playing for Ireland in the Hurling-Shinty international against Scotland to-morrow (Saturday).
