The meeting of Ballycran and Down Juniors in the Down S.H.C. semi-final in
Downpatrick on Saturday evening 24th September proved something of an
anti-climax as the Ballycran side dominated a one-sided game to qualify for the
county final on a scoreline of 8-21 to 0-7.
The winners dominated this match from start to finish, and the game was over as
a contest as they led at the break by 3-13 to 0-2. It was much the same scenario
in the second-half as Ballycran without getting out of second gear held all the
aces to go on for a facile and deserved success. Interestingly the top scorer
for the winners was Conor Woods who finished the game with a personal tally of
3-2.
One thing for sure the final against Ballygalget will be much tougher, and this
match will be of little benefits to the Ballycran sides preparations for such a
big test.
