Cumann na mBunscol an Duin  -  Girls' Football Competition.

The first gaelic football event  of the new school year took place in Annsborough on Tuesday 4th October. Four schools, Carrick, Legamaddy, Aughlisnafin and Newcastle were represented in this new competition aimed at P5 and P6 girls. It was basically a fun competition with each team having three matches and the emphasis on enjoyment rather than winning. All the participants were congratulated at the end of the proceedings and encouraged to continue playing football for both their schools and their local clubs. Each school had the opportunity to be photographed with the Tom Markham Trophy which the Down Minor team recently received at Croke Park.
