DOWN 1-8 ARMAGH
1-3 - Once again in the National League this game
was played at a wet & windy Ardglass. Down made this
derby win look harder than it actually was. Ciara
McCovern opened the score for Down with a point
before Andrea McAlinden goaled for Armagh.
Catherine McGourty
got 2 points followed by a point each from Catriona
McCrickard and Jenny Braniff before Armagh's
Collette McSorley pointed for the last score of the
half. On resumption of the second half Collette
pointed again to draw level. Down's Fiona Duff
sustained a facial cut and was replaced by blood sub
Orla Maginn who then scored a goal to take Down 3
points ahead.
Catriona
McCrickard & Catherine McGourty each pointed before
Collette McSorley clawed 1 back for the Orchard
county but it was never enough and Catherine
McGourty got a pointed just before the final
whistle. Down will need to get more names on the
scoresheet before they face Clare in the league
play-off's. Finnoula Carr was outstanding in the
half back line along with Pauline Green and 1st half
sub Cathy Mullholland & Ciara McGovern the pick of
the Down attack. Collette McSorley and Bernie Murray
were the pick of the Armagh team.
