Down's U14 team's first Ulster Championship game v Fermanagh in Irvinestown.

Eimear Kane, Saval

The result of the game was Fermanagh 2-6   Down 6-6.

Down were slow to get going in the first quarter as Fermanagh took a 1-1 lead.  However, the long bus journey wore off around the ten minute mark and the goals started to come from full forward Eimear McGeough and Mayobridge's Niamh McGuinness.  Once they hit the front though, Down never looked back, leading by ten at the half way point.  They upped their workrate in the second half with Bredagh players Nicole O'Connor and Cathy Short dominant in the back line and Sileen McDonald giving a captain's performance in midfield.  Scores from Saval players Eimear Kane and Natashya Lennon extended the lead over a determined Fermanagh side with a Tara Laverty point finishing the game in style.  The sponsorship deal with The Quays rounds off a great week for Down girls football following the U14 team's additional success in the Ulster Blitz plate competition in Greencastle on Easter Tuesday.
