Football League Update - 8th July 2006

 

Kilcoo top the division 1 league table after they overcame early league pace setters Rostrevor on Thursday night 0-13 to 0-05.  Burren overcame bottom four side Annaclone, while Clonduff missed their change to move up the table after they lost to Longstone 3.18 to 0-08, their heaviest defeat all year.  Both Burren and Clonduff are in second place on 18 points three points behind Kilcoo.  Castlewellan and Bryansford played out a draw 1-12 apiece.  Ciaran Crannigan had put Bryansford ahead with five minutes remaining, but Niall McArdle fired over the last point for Castlewellan to level.  Castlewellan had two changes to claim both points but fired wide.  Mayobridge defeated rivals Liatroim 2-10 to 1-11, with County Senior Footballer Benny Coulter scoring one of the bridges goals.

In Division Two An Riocht without the services of Matrin Clarke who is down under training with AFL side Collingwood for the next month overcame bottom side Glen by five points.  An Riocht remain the only side in all four divisions with full points.  Ballyholland and Downpatrick both had wins which see them move up the league table, but still remain outside the top four births.

Darragh Cross still lead Division 3 with only one lose during this league campaign.  On Thursday night they overcame bottom side Drumaness by six points.  Padraig Mageean scoring two goals for the league leaders.  Tullylish, Mitchels, Teconnaught, Dundrum and Clann na Banna also had great wins.

Bredagh got their season back on track with a win at St Michael's in Magheralin. Enda Gormley scored nine points.  Bredagh are now clear at the top of the table but only by one point as St Paul's overcame Ballykinlar 3-11 to 0-04 and move into second place above St Michael's.
