DOWN 5-7 ANTRIM
1-10 - Down are through to the Ulster Championship
final after yet another 2nd half of skill &
determination. Playing against the wind Down opened
the scoring with a Ciara McGovern point on 2mins
quickly followed by a another from captain Jennifer
Branniff before Antrim's Jane Adams got the 1st of
her 9 pts. Down were pushing forward and were
deserving of a Karen Gribben goal from a Naomi
Morgan pass. Adams pointed 2 more before Gribben
replied with a goal after Naomi Morgan hit the
crossbar. Down then relaxed and only scored one more
point in this half from the hurl of Mairin
McAleenan. Elaine Dowds & Jane Adams (2) points left
the scores at half-time Down 2-3 Antrim 0-9. On the
restart Antrim looked like they were taking control
when once again their chief scorer Adams hit the net
after some slack marking in an otherwise strong Down
defence. From the puck the ball made it's way to
Gribben who once again hit the net. A minute later
Adams was to get Antrim last score of the game when
she pointed. This was the wake up call Down needed
and Mairin McAleenan 1pt Catherine McGourty 1goal
Catriona McCrickard 2pts Karen Gribben 1 goal and
Finnoula Carr 1 pt made sure it's Down who will be
playing in the Ulster Final on 4th June as an opener
to the Down v Donegal championship game. Panel -
