Drumgath produced a brilliant second-half and extra-time
comeback to defeat strong favourites Ballymartin on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-16
in the Down IFC semi-final replay in St. Patrick’s Park, Newcastle.
This replay was one of the best championship games this season in any grade of
football in the Mourne county with Drumgath turning a tremendous second-half
display to draw level two minutes into added time to force extra-time.
In extra-time it was Drumgath who built on their fine finish and playing some
excellent attacking football they ran out worthy winners by three points – and a
place in the IFC final against Attical in the coming weeks.
Drumgath scorers were – M. Brannigan 1-4, D. McCabe 0-7, P. Downey 0-3, P. Hynes
0-3, C. Grant and P. O’Hare 0-1 each.
