ANNACLONE, beaten finalists in 2005, ran away with the Ladies’ Intermediate
Football Championship last Sunday.
They were superbly fit and organised and simply had too much skill and accuracy
up front for a gallant Burren defence. Captain Aileen Pyers led the winners’
attack with tremendous guile and positional sense and combined intelligently
with Grainne Kelly and Sinead McEvoy to lead Annaclone into a 6-4 to 2-3
half-time lead.
The Annaclone captain scored two further goals in the third quarter and there
was simply no way back for a gallant Burren team who had top-class players in
Courtney Linden, Niamh McGovern, Shauna Campbell and Grainne McKernan.
