Camogie: Down minors defeat Armagh

Down Minors demonstrated to their neighbours Armagh, that they intend to keep hold of their title as All Ireland Champions.

Down met with neighbouring Armagh on Sunday 1 April. Both sides played magnificently but luck was on the Down side. With Down’s All Star, Karen Tinnelly playing magnificently throughout the match and with team mates Lisa McPoland and Lisa Hughes also providing scores for the young Mourne ladies therefore securing the start their of campaign with a win.

Managers Kitty Fegan and Lilian Tinnelly must have been very jubilant in the win but it was an extreme close call with only two points between the two sides.

DOWN U16

Down Minors is now under new management with Joan Gilmore in charge. The Under 16’s have been out in training since February and are very anxious to get started. Joan and her team have had so much talent to select from and found it a challenge in itself as so many clubs had sent forward their crème de la crème.

All of the county wish the girls the best as they take on Meath on 9 April 2007 at 4:00pm.
