On 25 October 2007, the Executive launched
their draft Programme for Government 2008-11
(PfG), Budget 2008-11 for public consultation.
As a result, funding for Sport in Northern
Ireland may be under severe threat. This funding
threat will be compounded by the loss of over
£4.2m to help fund the 2012 Olympic
and Paralympic Games and could result in your
organisation, as one of our partners, having
a reduced opportunity to access Sport Northern
Ireland investment in current or future projects;
if a significant budget uplift is not secured.
This is our only opportunity to influence
the funding that will be available to sport
in Northern Ireland over the next 3 years
– WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please support

in the future by emailing the Office of the

for increased sports funding.

Dear Minister
I would like to take this opportunity to
express my deep concern regarding any possible
reduction in funding to sport in Northern
Ireland. I understand the significance of
the 2012 Olympics but this should not be an
issue that is harmful to the development of
sport in Northern Ireland, particularly at
a time when the levels of obesity are rising;
we should be increasing levels of funding,
particular to community sport.
All in sport are anxious to ensure that a
strong case is put forward to ensure sport
is a winner in the current consultation process
for the draft Programme for Government draft
Budget 2008-11.
Yours sincerely
c.c. Melanie McGinnis, OFMDFM
