QUB    1-5                   Down   1-9

On Sunday (7 January 2007) we saw Down take on QUB. It was supposed to have been a friendly but both sides were out to win. The game was hard and extremely physical but Down came out the victors at the end.

The pitch was  in excellent condition for this time of year, although those around the sidelines were flinching with the cold.

In the first half of the game both Down and Qubs were playing at the same level, this was evident in the score at half time, where both teams were even with 4 points each.

Throughout the game the Mourne ladies excelled in their tackling, hooking and battling for possession of  the ball. Although Down have only returned to training it was evident that improvement is still required as Qubs took full opportunity of any advantages they received.

Downs next training session takes place on Thursday 11 January at 7:30 in Laitroim and on Sunday at 10:30 in Castlewellen playing fields.
