Despite not having a football
club, Down’s Brendan McGourty will feature for his
county in their McKenna Cup opener against Antrim at
Downpatrick tomorrow (Sunday).
McGourty has only played a few football games over
the last few seasons because there are no football
clubs on the Ards Peninsula and he freely admits
that the small ball game is his number one sport.
"I’d have to say hurling is my first priority," the
21 year old Ballycran native explained.
And he also admits that his football experience is
fairly limited.
"I only played at schools, maybe fourth or fifth
year and a couple of matches for Darragh Cross, not
really anything.
"Not sure what I’m doing, might join Darragh Cross
or something like that. |
