The Down G.A.A supporters club
held their 22nd Annual General Meeting in the
Canal Court Hotel in Newry Thursday 25th October.
There was a significant attendance
and the guests for the evening were St.Columbans
College Kilkeel and Margaret King a member of
the Down medical team.
Chairman Seamus McGeeney welcomed
everyone to the AGM and he presented St.Columbans
College with a framed photo montage and he congratulated
them on their success. St.Columbans thanked the
supporters club and wished them well for the future.
The chairman then presented Margaret
King with an engraved Tyrone Crystal vase for
her outstanding devotion and dedication to the
G.A.A in Down in the past twenty years and committee
member Marie Greenan presented her with a bouquet
of flowers.

them well for the future.
Former Down senior manager Peter
McGrath and former senior player Mickey Linden
spoke very highly of Margaret as she played a
very important role in the success which was achieved
down the years and she was a big help to players
who had chronic ankle injuries which required
constant strapping with bandages.
The secretary Paul Rooney presented
a comprehensive report on the year’s activities
and the treasures report presented by Joe Hughes
showed the club to be in a healthy financial state.
Down county board secretary Seamus
Walsh praised the supporters club for the great
work they had done all year especially with the
national league programmes, the transport to away
matches, and the fundraising and himself and Sean
Rooney also from the county board presided over
the election of officers for the new committee
for 2008.
