Ballygalget received
some consolation for their loss in the
senior final when they beat Ballycran
in the final of the Under-16 Hurling
Championship by 6-8 to 1-10.
Four first half goals
set Ballygalget on their way. Using
the strong wind, their dominant midfield
players dropped a succession of high
balls on top of the Ballycran defence.
Although goal-keeper, Glenn Acheson,
made a number of fine saves, the pressure
on his defence finally told.

In the second half the
Ballycran forwards did not receive the
same supply of the ball. The Ballygalget
half-backs cut off the supply line and
the one goal that Ballycran did score
came off a Ballygalget defender.
Overall Ballygalget
were stronger in all areas of the field
and although Mark Egan, Michael Hughes
and Conor Dorrian all played well, Ballycran
lacked the physical strength to make
a match of it.
