Leitrim Won the U-14 Hurling championship
Shield against a determined Mourne side in
St John’s pitch on Saturday. The first
half was a close and low scoring affair. It
was doninated by midfielders Caolan McAleenan
(Leitrim) and man of the match Adam White
(Mourne) The second half became a difficult
affair to referee with players becoming involved
in several off the ball incidents. It was
Leitrim who maintained the better focus and
inspite the hard work of Mournes’ Dailth
Young and Declan Doyle Leitrim’s Joe
Moorehead and Paddy Keenan both hit the net
from close range to leave Mourne trailing
by 7 with a few minutes left. Leitrims’
Paddy Joe McCumiskey pointed a 40 yard free
with a few minutes left to finish the scoring.

Whilst both teams had some good hurlers their
biggest problem was scoring. The margin of
Leitrim’s vistory was unfair to the
Mourne team who were a match for them through
out the field but failed to capitalise on
their oppertunities in front of goal.
