U-21 footballers hoping for
Shamrock Cup success
22 February 2008
The Down U-21 county footballers have a final
opportunity to impress their manager, Peter
McGrath ahead of the forthcoming Ulster U-21
championship when they take on Monaghan in the
final of the Shamcock Cup at the Cremartin,
Co. Monaghan venue on Saturday, 23rd of February.
With the Sigerson Cup just
a week away, the Down management may be without
a number of key players he would expect to figure
in the side in the championship. In the group
stages of the Shamrock Cup competition, the
Down side were defeated by a talented Farney
side, who will be all-out to repeat that victory
this Saturday in front of their own supporters.
Down on the otherhand have
been forewarned, and they will have to turn
in a top-class team performance on the day to
come away with some silverware at the start
of the season.
