Down
set up a McKenna Cup semi-final clash with Cavan
and prevented UUJ from becoming the first college
side to qualify for the last four, when they
defeated the students on Saturday night 1-15
to 0-14.
The sides were level on five occasions in the
opening period, with Mark Lynch hitting five
for UUJ, and John Fegan and Kevin McKernan on
target for Down.
Kevin McGuigan got on the end
of a fine move to blast to the roof of the net
for Down's goal with 18 minutes to go.
Substitute John Clarke sealed
it with three delightful late points.
