Down senior footballers open
their NFL Division 3 campaign with a home game
on Saturday, February 2nd under lights at Pairc
Esler, Newry against the Connacht champions,
Sligo. They are away to Louth on Sunday, February
17th; away to Wexford on Sunday, March 2nd.
They have another floodlit game against Longford
at Pairc Esler, Newry on March 15th.
In the remaining three games
in the division they are at home to Limerick
on March 29th another game for Pairc Esler,
Newry under lights; Leitrim away on April 6th
(Sunday) in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon
and they finish their group campaign with a
home game against Ulster rivals, Fermanagh on
Sunday, April 13th.
Looking at this Division and
the teams involved in it, it is very hard to
call. Down will have to win their home games,
and with the most of them being played at Pairc
Esler, Newry under lights it gives them a good
advantage. If they can pick up some points on
their travels they have a good chance of promotion.
Longford, Louth and Fermanagh could be their
biggest challengers for success.
