
South Down Developement B Team
In glorious sunshine and perfect pitch
conditions on Saturday past the South Down
football school of excellence brought their
10 week coaching session to a close with
a very successful blitz tournament in Burren.
Teams travelled from North and South Armagh
and were joined by teams from East and South
Down. Teams were divided into two groups
and South Armagh and South Down progressed
as winners of round one.

North Armagh Developement Team
In round two the winners of each group
played the runners up East Down A &
B. South Down and South Armagh emerged as
winners of this round with a fine display
of Football.
Round three saw the two final games of
the day, which were played between the two
winners of round two South Down and South
Armagh and the third placed teams of round
one South Down B and North Armagh. These
games were played in a very sporting manner
and all teams showing a lot of commitment
and skill.
With all players enjoying a great day of
first class football at this young age it
has endorsed how important it is to provide
this school of Excellence for these players.

East Down Developement Squad
Although there were no trophies awarded
at the end of the blitz the real winners
were the skills of the game and the experience
that these young players gained, and it
would be hoped that one day some of these
boys would be wearing the colours of their
County at a higher level in Croke Park

South Armagh Developement Team
The chairman of South Down William Smith
spoke to the players and their coaches and
thank them for taking part in today tournament.
He also thanked all those coaches who had
given up the time over the past 10 weeks
to work with the players of South Down Squad.
Thanks were extended to the referees, First
aid, clubs and parent all of who made this
day possible. Burren club provide to be
a very successful venue and the chairman
paid tribute to them and all those ladies
who helped with the food for the players.
In conclusion William thanked all those
members of the South Board that had helped
and in particular Michael Mc Ardle and Newry
Building supplies Ltd for their continues
support to the Board.
