A first ever championship
clash between two counties who are bidding
to reach the quarter-finals for the first
time.
However, there is a recent
form line between them as they met in a
Division 3 NFL game on March 2 last with
Wexford winning by 2-8 to 0-9 in Wexford
Park. Matty Ford scored 1-2 for the winners
who went through the entire League campaign
unbeaten.
The qualifiers hadn’t
proved very productive for Down up to this
year but that has all changed after their
two wins over Leinster pair, Kildare and
Laois.
