Deepest sympathy to the Cole Family
on the death of Michael Cole (RIP)

It is with deep sadness that the gaels of Down learned of the death of Michael Cole while refereeing a Down division 1 league game between Ballyholland and Saval which took place on Thursday evening 3rd July.

Michael was heavily involved with the GAA in Down both as a referee and an administrator.

Over the years Michael refereed various underage and senior games within the County representing his club An Riocht and in later years Ballymartin with distinction. Michael was involved in various committees within Down over the years and was the present Vice Chairman of the South Down Board.

Michael also served on Newry and Mourne Council as a Councillor for the Mourne area and had just finished his term as mayor within the last number of weeks.
