Down's
Dan Gordon says hard work was the key to his
side's Ulster SFC quarter-final replay win over
Tyrone.
"We believed in ourselves,
worked hard and put in the effort and that paid
dividends," said the Mourne player.
Kevin McKernan said the win
had been "a long time coming" but
added that Down "knew they were a better
team than Tyrone and showed it in extra-time".
"We knew we would be under
pressure at times but knew our fitness would
pay off. Ross Carr helped settle us down."
"Tyrone have good players
who have won All-Ireland medals but we know
that, on our day, we are not far off any team
in Ireland.
"The reaction after the
game showed how much this meant to the people
of Down and we can now look forward to playing
Cavan or Armagh in the next round."
Aiden Carr said it was a "very
tough game" and lamented the fact that
his side "let Tyrone get off to a good
start".
"I thought we had lost
it when we went four points behind in extra-time
but we got a point back to settle us a bit and
then the goal really brought us back into it,"
said Carr after the game.
