Down manager Ross Carr insists that his players
have come down from the high of their replay
victory over Tyrone and are fully focused on
Sunday’s Ulster SFC semi-final against
Armagh.
While some Down supporters
may have got carried away with the win over
the reigning provincial champions, that certainly
hasn’t been the case with the players
according to Carr.
"I think it would be harder
if these players were used to success,"
he said.
"Down have won first round
championship matches before, only to go on to
get beaten further down the line. There will
be no problem keeping these fellas’ feet
on the ground.
"They’re only too
aware themselves that they haven’t done
anything; they’ve won a first round championship
match."
He added: "It’s
the euphoria that’s been created by the
print and TV media who have set the Tyrone v
Down replay game up as a classic. People want
to talk or write about a classic.
"Regardless of the result
this Sunday, it won’t be a case of ’we
got carried away with the Tyrone game’."
