The
Powerade Down Senior Football All Star
Team of the Championship for 2007, was
announced last Thursday Night in the
Canal Court Hotel, during the championship
draws for 2008.
In total five clubs are represented
on the starting fifteen, with County
champions Mayobridge topping the list
with eight players receiving recognition
- Liam Coulter, Gavin Barry, Brendan
Grant, John Caldwell, Adrian Barry,
Benny Coulter, Ronan Sexton and Micheal
Walsh.
Beaten
County finalists Longstone have four
representatives – Mark Doran,
Eamon Quinn, Barry Doran and Ambrose
Rodgers. Meanwhile Kilcoo, Bryansford
and Burren have one representative respectively
Aidan Brannigan, Luke Howard and Kevin
McKernan.
Four
players from the 2006 All Star team
retain their place in the 2007 team
- Gavin Barry (Mayobridge), Kevin McKernan
(Burren), Ronan Sexton (Mayobridge)
and senior County football star and
international rules player Benny Coulter
(Mayobridge).

The All Star team which was picked by
members of the local media will be presented
with their award at the Counties first
Integration Dinner, which will take
place on Friday 28th March 2008 in the
Canal Court Hotel, Newry.
The
County Dinner will be a night of celebration
for the GAA in the County with numerous
individual awards and presentations
of medals to the winning Down Junior
and Minor Hurling teams and the Minor
Camogie teams of 2007 as well as the
inaugural Down GAA Hall of Fame and
Service to Sport Awards.
Accomplished
after dinner speaker Niall Crozier is
the special guest entertainer for the
night. Tickets cost £40 each and
