2008 will be a memorable year for Glenn GAC.
After the success of Kerrie Kennedy their Solo
Singer in last year’s Ulster Scór
competitions, the club upped the ante this year
and were well rewarded on Sunday night last,
coming home with three county titles to add
to their trophy cabinet. As well as Kerrie retaining
her Solo Singing title, the Ballad Group and
Instrumental Group won County titles as well.

Glenn winners of Solo singing, Instrumental
Music and Ballad Group
Clonduff were next in line with two titles,
Quiz and Set Dancing, the others three going
to Saul (Ceili Dancing) Saval (Novelty Act)
and Annaclone with their first ever senior Scór
title in Recitation.
St Malachy’s School Auditorium was filled
to capacity as the clubs battled for supremacy,
none of them had it easy. Every win had been
hard fought with no unanimous decisions from
any of the three sets of adjudicators in any
of the competitions.

With the amount of talent on
show and the high standard of competition, there
were no foregone conclusions in any section
and the clubs taking part are to be congratulated
on their presentations whether they won or not.
Before the competitions began,
the county Scór committee made a presentation
to Castlewellan, the current Ulster Scór
na nÓg Instrumental Music champions.
Scór chairman Brian Kennedy, on behalf
of the Down Scór committee, presented
Orlaigh McCrickard, Emer Walsh and Niall McCrickard
with mementos to acknowledge their success in
