Ladies Gaelic Round-up 26th May 2008

Ladies Gaelic Round-up 26th May 2008

Saval picked up both points against Burren and Bryansford had a walkover due to Downpatricks inability to field. With none of the top 3 in action the status quo was maintained. Castlewellan still sit on top by a point but Clonduff with 2 games in hand are the better placed to steal the honours. Looking to Wednesday night’s games I would expect Clonduff to advance against Saval. Burren could pick up their second win of the season against Downpatrick as the hoops are struggling with injuries.

In the Intermediate league Carryduff had a big week with wins over Bredagh and Rostrevor to cement their position at the top of the table whilst Bright kept in touch with a late winner against Bredagh. Kilcoo fresh after their defeat of the league leaders last week, fell to a determined Ballymartin outfit in a classic game of open end to end football. Loughinisland got their first win of the season with a 2-point win over Tullylish in a close encounter which could have gone either way. On Wednesday night Ballymartin will meet Loughinisland and they will be looking for maximum points, Loughinisland with their first win of the season behind them will see things a little differently and Ballymartin will need to be on top form to take the points on offer. To Monday nights games there should be wins for Carryduff and Kilcoo. The game of the night will be the meeting of Bright and Rostrevor and on current form I will plump for Bright though they should be wary as the reds fell heavily to Carryduf last time out and they will look to bounce back quickly and a scalp like Bright would go a long way in easing the pain. Ballymartin v Bredagh should be a close match and home advantage should be enough to steal the honours for the whites.

In the Junior league Aughlisnafin had a big win over Teconnaught to move into 2nd spot behind Shamrocks. Looking to Monday nights games I would expect wins for Shamrocks, Clonduff and Aughlisnafin.
