Downpatrick
Win All Ireland Division III

This year's Feile was held in Ulster
with Belfast being the venue for the handball. The teams
in Division III were Downpatyiek (Co. Down), Saval (Co.
Down), Brackey (Co. Tyrone), Beart (Co. Donegal), Drumshambo
(Co. Leityim), Ardoyne (Co. Ant.,im) and Tydavnet (Co. Monaghan).
The League games were played on Friday 21st June in Rossa,
Belfast. After these games the two County Down teams qualified
for the final, a repeat of the County Feile final with Downpatrick
hoping to repeat their vic- tory.
The final was played on Saturday 22nd June in St. Paul's,
Belfast. In an excit- ing final Downpatrick defeated Saval
35 - 30 and both teams deserved great praise for their achievement
and sports- manship. The winning Downpatrick team was John
Connolly, Brendan Lennon, Darryl Casement and Mark Rice.
Downpatrick squad were John Connolly (Captain), Brendan
Lennon, Daryl Casement, Christopher Hogan, Stephen Wills,
Ben O'Reilly, Jamie O'Reilly, Conor Killen and Mark Rice.
The Saval squad were Niall Digney (Captain), Sean Digney,
Jarlath McCarthy, Derek McCarthy, John MeNaUy and Ruairi
Digney.
John Connolly, the Downpatrick Captain won the Division
III Individual Skills award.
The Downpatrick Handball Club would like to thank the County
Down Feile na nGael Committee for their continuing support
