Antrim
title to go to Down! - 11/10/02
It does not happen very often - an Antrim
hurling title going to a club in Co Down - But Portaferry
looked to have achieved that distinction afetr defeating
Loughgiel 0 - 14 to 2 - 07 in the Antrim Division one Hurling
league yesterday.
With the cut off point for competition just two weeks away,
this one point success over Loughgiel and their nearest
rivals makes them odds on to pick up the crown.
The sides were level on 6 points each at half time, but
by the third quarter the Ards men had eased into a four
point lead with Paul Braniff leading the way. Loughgiel
responded with a point and then they found the net to draw
level. Braniff popped up to hit the winner which could see
the Antrim title go to the Ards men.
