Antrim's
minor hurlers had it all their own way at Casement
Park as they waltzed to a 5-15 to 3-7 win over
Down in a disappointing Ulster MHC final.
The winners-elect dominated in almost every sector
of the field with a five star display by Patrick
Magill who scored seven points before the break
giving them a leg-up they scarcely needed to secure
outright victory.
Magill opened the scoring after just 40 seconds
before colleague Colm McFall banged home Antrim's
first goal in the 12th minute to leave Down trailing
by 0-1 to 1-6.
Stephen McGarry hit Antrim's second goal on 24
minutes before Simon McGrory made it a hat-trick
of goals for the Saffons on the half hour.
Down performed better on the restart and goals
by Brendan Ennis after 40 seconds of the restart
and by the same player in the 49th minute did
give the Mourne County some consolation.
