Veteran
Down hurler Gerard McGrattan has decided to retire
from the inter-county scene.
The Portaferry clubman was regarded as one of
Down's top forwards and was a major force for
the Mourne county for over a decade.
McGrattan's decision to opt out comes just as
Down are preparing for their return to Division
One of the Allianz National League.
The player said he wanted to concentrate on club
games.
Down manager John Crossey said McGrattan had been
a great servant to Down and would be missed.
