Down Hurlers prepare for NHL game against Antrim - 14/02/03

Down senior hurling squad continues its build up for the opening NHL game against Antrim in Portaferry on Sunday 23rd February. Manager Jimmy O'Reilly welcomes back to the panel Tom and Paddy Coulter and these additions to the squad are a timely boost.

In order to assist patrons attending the Antrim game, who would use the ferry, special coaches will be available at the slipway in Portaferry to bring them to St. Patrick's Park. In that case cars can be parked in Strangford.

Further hurling news is that a trio of former county stars have been appointed to look after the U-21 county team. Martin Mallon will be the team-manager assisted by Dermot O'Prey as coach and Paul Coulter as trainer.

The Co. Board has approved the appointments of former Co. Board Secretary Brian McAvoy as Chairman of the Hurling Board, and Matt Fitzpatrick as the Hurling PRO.
