 Down
Hurlers travel to Carlow - 18/04/03
Division
2A Group 1 NHL at Carlow - Sunday 20th April 2003
Carlow Down
This Sundays game is a must win game for
Down hurlers who make the long trip to Dr. Cullen Park,
Carlow on Sunday 20th April to play the home county in the
NHL Division 2 Group 1 second series of games - starting
time of game 1.30 p.m.
After their defeat in Pairc Tailteann, Navan last week-end
by Meath, the Down team-manager Jimmy O'Reilly will be hoping
for better luck on this occasion. The Carlow venue has been
a happy hunting ground for the Down hurlers in recent times
- they have won there in their last three visits.
According to the Down team-management this is probably the
most important game in the league to date for them. They
must win on Sunday if they are to have any chance of reaching
the semi-final play-offs and gaining promotion. On the playing
front their has been some good news for O'Reilly with star
full-back Emmet Dorrian returning to the squad after a trip
to New York and he will be available for selection, while
there are high hopes that Simon Wilson and Gary Savage will
have recovered from injuries and will be able to take up
their usual places on the side.
With the addition of the aforementioned players and if the
side show the same commitment and skill they displayed against
Meath last time out they are more than capable of coming
away with a badly needed win on this occasion.
