Dublin record comfortable victory over Down Hurlers In Walsh Cup - 20/01/03

Dublin recorded a comfortable victory over Down in this historic Leinster Hurling Match. Down who only entered the Walsh Cup two weeks ago will come away from the game with great experience gained. Marty Morris' the new Dublin hurling manager will also be happy to get his tenure off on the right foot.

The Dubs were never troubled, with Johnny McGuirk, Kevin Flynn and Kevin Ryan all finding the net inside the first 13 minutes. Down responded with four points from Paul Braniff and a Martin Coulter goal, but they still trailed by 1 - 08 to 3 - 09 at the break.

Dublin maintained their advantage on the restart with Conal Keaney's superb point after 47 minutes proving the highlight of the half. In the final 10 minutes, the home side hit five points without reply per Liam Ryan (three), Shane Martin and Flynn to ensure Morris of his first competitive win.
