Down hurler summoned to appear before GAC - 18/03/03

Full back Stephen Murray has been summoned to appear before the GAC in Croke Park on Wednesday 19th March. The Full forward has been called before the GAC after they viewed video evidence of the Down v Antrim N.H.L. game in which the Down corner-back Liam Clarke was sent off, successfully appealed the decision, and the GAC have now called Murray to appear. It would now looks like the Portaferry full-back could be handed a three month suspension.

If Murray recieves a 12 week suspension, Murray will miss out on the remaining games in the National Hurling League, and the Ulster hurling championship. Any suspension imposed would date from his last game which was on Sunday last against Kildare.

O'Reilly could also be without his corner-back Emmett Dorrian for Down's away game against Roscommon and also the first match in round two of the league, if as expected, they secure a place in the play-offs. The big Ballygalget clubman, who has really impressed since being drafted into the corner-back position is going to the United States for three weeks at the end of the month on holidays.
