Down senior hurlers, under new team-manager
John Crossey, concluded their preparations for next Sunday’s
opening round of the N.H.L. against Derry with an impressive
5-24 to 3-10 win over Wicklow at the Burren venue.
Following the game Crossey named a 28-man
panel for the new season. However, he will have to plan
without the services of Andy Savage who suffered a fractured
cheekbone against the Garden county and is ruled out for
next week-end’s opener against Derry. The Down side will
also be without the services of the experienced Tom Coulter
who has retired from the inter-county scene, but the panel
includes a number of talented newcomers which should give
the new county panel a refreshing look.,
