The U-16 and U-12 hurling leagues started at the week-end. At U-12 Portaferry and Bredagh got off to a good start with each scoring 6 goals against Ballygalget and Castlewellan respectively, while Ballyvarley defeated Clonduff.
In the U-16 hurling league, holders Ballycran were too strong for Portaferry, while there were also wins for Bredagh, Shamrocks and Ballyvarley.
