Down Ladies Club Update: (By P.J. Cunningham Down Ladies PRO)

In Section A of the U-16 League, Castlewellan courtesy of their win over Ballymartin are now assured of a place in the play-offs. The 2nd spot in the group is a little more complicated. Saval are in the driving seat but they will need maximum points from their remaining 2 fixtures to secure their place in the Semi's. Should they lose their clash with Ballymartin on May 12th, we could be looking at a 3-way playoff with Ballymartin, Saval and Burren to see who goes through.

In Section B, Bryansford will finish in top spot. Again the 2nd position is still up for grabs due to Bright's unexpected win over Bredagh. The Belfast girls need to beat Downpatrick in their final league match to force a play-off situation. Should Downpatrick win, they will be favourites to qualify provided they win their games in hand. Bright will watch this clash with interest as a Bredagh win will throw them a life line.

Clubs are again reminded that it is the responsibility of the home team to text /phone through results on 07732460564.

County News:

In a very competitive match the Down U-14's had a very convincing win over local neighbours Armagh at the Marshes on Sunday evening.

The Down squad played some very slick football and at times totally mesmerised their opponents with their support play and running off the ball. Final Score Down 8-17 Armagh 1-03.
