LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL

Down Ladies Club Update

By P.J. Cunningham (Down Ladies PRO)

The U-16 league is now in full swing, with 16 clubs represented across 2 sections. The top 2 from each section will go through and compete in the semi-finals, come the end of May. We welcome on board Rostrevor, Annaclone, Clonduff, Shamrocks, Loughinisland and Aughlisnafin as they make their U-16 debuts in 2004.

In Section A, Saval is the early pacesetter with a 3 game winning run under their belt, which includes last years champions Castlewellan. Saval, U-13 champions from 2003 are determined to once again make their mark in ladies underage football as they seek there 2nd major trophy in 2 seasons. In Section B, Bryansford and Bredagh are leading the way in what is turning out to be a very close & competitive group. It is however, still early days with a lot of football still to be played.

The weather has played havoc with quite a few of the Round 3 fixtures. League standings are correct up to and including Sunday March 21st. Clubs are again reminded that it is the responsibility of the home team to text /phone through results on 07732460564.

There is a County Board meeting this Thursday March 25th in the Theraforth Inn Kilcoo at 7:30pm. All clubs should make sure they are represented.
