The Down Ladies County Board have agreed an exciting deal with Newry based business, ‘Around-a Pound’ to sponsor the Down Ladies Senior team for the next three years. In addition to this, they have also launched a new-style County jersey in conjunction with O’Neills Sports. In what is a first for Ladies Football in Ulster, the jersey

will be going on sale in O’Neills Sportstores in Newry and Belfast.

Speaking at the launch of the jersey and sponsorship deal, Down Chairman, Paul Kelly said,

“We are delighted to announce these two exciting developments today. Gerard Rice, proprietor of ‘Around A Pound’, has been involved in supporting Gaelic and other games in the County for many years and we are very pleased to welcome him into Ladies Football. Given that the numbers of girls playing football in the County is increasing all the time, the new agreement with O’Neills Sports will allow us to promote the game in a more visible manner than previously possible.”

O’Neills Sales Manager, Patricia Magee concurred,

“O’Neills have been closely involved with the growth and promotion of Ladies Football for many years and are delighted with this unique development for Ladies Football in County Down. The profile of the Ladies game in general is increasing all the time and providing an opportunity for young players to wear the jerseys of their role models can only assist this process.”
