1991 Celebration Dinner

Thursday 25th August 2016

1991 Celebration Dinner

It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since our All Ireland Senior Football win of 1991, a day that brought great pride to our County as a new generation took on the mantle of the great teams of the 60s and brought the Sam Maguire back to the Mournes.

On 1st October in the Canal Court Hotel in Newry we will honour the men of 1991 at a special celebration dinner. We will be joined on the night by members of the Meath panel of that year and there will be a question and answer session which i am sure some of the secrets of 1991 will now be divulged under the 25 year rule of privilege!

This will be a night where the Down GAA family get the chance to salute those men who were all our heroes 25 years ago. There will be opportunities to mingle with the players and the Sam Maguire cup will be in attendance.

We are hoping that the Clubs of Down will be represented in great numbers at this event and we would hope that your Club would purchase a table of 10 people at £400 or a number of individual tickets at £45 each.

The 1991 players and management have asked that the benefits raised by this dinner would be their legacy fund to the next generation of aspiring Down players in the Mourne Academy. A raffle for some outstanding prizes will also be held on the night in support of Chest, Heart and Stroke in memory of the late great Ambrose Rogers.

To purchase tickets please contact only Martina Casement at accounts.down@gaa.ie or by telephone on 028 437 70880.
