All-Ireland U20HC 'B' final: Kerry ease past Down to three-in-a-row

Sunday 4th August 2019

Kerry 3-22

Down 0-12

Donal O'Sullivan and Michael Slattery scored 2-5 and 0-8 respectively as Kerry completed a three-in-a-row of Richie McElligott Cups with an emphatic victory over Down in Navan.

Barry O'Mahony also chipped in with 1-2 as the Kingdom eased to victory. O'Sullivan bagged 1-1 early on to help the winners to a 1-4 to 0-0 lead after nine minutes. The Ardsmen grabbed four of the next five points, including two from wing forward Tim Prenter, before O'Sullivan raised his second green flag.

And it was all over bar the shouting after O'Mahony scored Kerry's third goal to leave them perched on a 3-13 to 0-8 interval lead.

Despite the best efforts of Ronan Blair, who finished with 0-7 (0-5 from frees) to his credit, Down couldn't close the gap in the second half as Kerry cruised home.
