The Jim Mulholland Cup, Shield & Plate 11-a-side P5/P6 Football Tournament took place at Dunavil on Saturday. 45 teams from 9 counties played 132 games before Bellaghy retained the Cup, St Brigids Belfast (with An Riocht’s Colm McGurk in charge) beat Buncrana in the Shield and Keady beat An Riocht in the Pate Final. Thanks to all the teams for their co-operation at the tournament; also thanks to the An Riocht volunteers who manned the car parks, kept the road clear, staffed the kitchen, took over 200 photographs, who refereed on the nine pitches and who gathered scores and co-ordinated the games, not forgetting everyone who helped with the tidy-up.

At The Jim Mulholland Tournament on Saturday, An Riocht had two teams in action and enjoyed matches with Shane O’Neills (Armagh), Clann Eireann (Armagh), St Johns (Belfast), Bryansford, Carrickcruppen (Armagh), Bellaghy Wolfe Tones (Derry), Fintona Pearses (Tyrone), Buncrana (Donegal), Skyrne (Meath) and Keady Dwyers (Armagh) reaching the Plate Final.

The Senior Camogie An Riocht v Castlewellan finished a draw 0-9 to 2-3 at Dunavil. An Riocht had ample chances to win comfortably but were misfiring in attack and each time we got in front the visitors replied with a goal leaving us needing the last two scores to share the spoils. Team J Sloan, Clara Killen, L Rodgers, N Cunningham, N Kelly, N Fearon, M Trainor, O McAlinden, A Fearon 0-3 (2f), M Higgins 0-1, C Fearon 0-1, T Rooney 0-1, A McDowell 0-2, Carrie Killen 0-1, T Donnan. Subs: S Bowater, P Matthews.

The U18 Football match An Riocht v Clann Na Banna produced another goal glut with Bann edging it 9-3 to 4-16, that’s 54 goals served up in 4 matches! An Riocht dominated the first half and should have been much more than 2-10 to 0-2 ahead at half time. Three black cards in the third quarter and no reserves to replace them eventually cost us the match with Bann outscoring us 5-0 to 1-1 in the final ten minutes. Team: P Kearney 1-0 (pen), T Murnion, JJ Eakins, P Curran, R Campbell 1-3 (2f), Cormac Clarke 0-1, Conor Clarke 0-3, C Flanagan 1-3, J Cunningham, C Campbell 0-2, D Nugent 0-1, P McComiskey, J Rodgers 1-3.

The U14 Camogs lost to Clonduff on Tuesday night by 10-7 to 1-3.

The Junior Camogs beat Kilclief after a great game by two points, 3-4 to 2-5.

The U12 Camogs lost narrowly in Liatroim and then at home to Portaferry. They were away to Liatroim in their first game of the league on Tuesday, Liatroim opened the score with a point followed quickly by a goal. An Riocht's back line were up against strong forwards and worked really hard with Lauren Marsh sweeping in for every ball and some great play from sisters Alicia and Summer Clare, Lauren Cunningham and Niamh Maginn. With Kelcie Curran and Caitlin Harper working together to get the ball up to the forwards, An Riocht took their first score with a lovely hand pass into the net from Anna Quinn at full forward. Cerys Finnegan went on to score another goal and had great support on the forward line from Annalise White and Alexx Mulligan. Annie Mc Aleenan came under pressure again in goals with Leitrim scoring their third goal despite the strong efforts of the An Riocht's backs. An Riocht fought hard throughout and after scoring their third goal and final goal just lost out to Liatroim by one point. Niamh Hardy in her first game of Camogie gave a great effort. Team: Annie Mc Aleenan, Niamh Maginn, Lauren Cunningham, Lauren Marsh, Alicia Clare, Summer Clare, Caitlin Harper, Kelcie Curran, Cerys Finnegan, Annalise White, Anna Quinn, Alex Mulligan and Niamh Hardy. Then on Sunday An Riocht U12 played Portaferry. Portaferry were the stronger team on the day and defeated An Riocht who came under serious pressure in the back line. We saw a fantastic display of camogie from Lauren Marsh in full back and some great saves from Alicia Clare who went into nets in the second half.  An Riocht worked hard in mid field trying their best to get the ball up to the forward line but the Portaferry team were winning most of the balls making it very difficult. All the girls got to play on the day and gave great effort to the last whistle. Team: Cerys Finnegan, Alicia Clare, Bobbi Jo Campbell, Kelcie Curran, Alexx Mulligan, Caitlin Harper, Shannon Marie Morgan, Anna Quinn, Lauren Cunningham, Lauren Marsh, Ella Small, Zoe Gannon, Summer Clare, Mya Cousins, Niamh Hardy and Mya Campbell.

The U16 Football Saval v An Riocht was off again and won’t now be played until after the exam break.

The U18 Camogs beat Mayobridge on Friday

The U12 Footballers brought Bosco’s unbeaten record to an end after an exciting contest in Newry on a 3-11 to 1-12 score line.

The Reserve Footballers lost to Liatroim 2-9 to 1-15. An Riocht had a strong wind on their backs in the first half and a 2-8 to 0-4 interval lead did not look enough. Aidan O’Hanlon’s opening point of the second half proved to be our only score and by the fiftieth minute Liatroim with wind advantage kicked nine points and had cut the deficit to two before a fifty-third minute goal put them in front. Conor McVeigh took another Liatroim chance off the line and at the finish we almost managed a draw but Ryan Clarke’s shot was blocked on the line. In the first half, direct play brought scores but we were too extravagant on the ball going the scenic route to the Liatroim goals rather than the direct route and eventually that cost us in the end. Conor McVeigh, Joe McCartan and Aidan O’Hanlon had strong first halves while Brian Sloan was prominent in midfield throughout. Team: T Sloan, R Clarke, C McVeigh, J McCartan, L Rodgers, S Corr, A O’Hanlon 0-1, B Sloan, C Cole 0-3, P McComiskey, R Spiers, J Reilly, A White 0-2, D Morgan 2-3, A McVeigh. Subs: D Matthews, S Cunningham, R Doran.
