Bank Of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup.

Friday evening (January 7th) sees the start of another campaign for our senior footballers as they make the trip to Ballybofey to take on Donegal in the Bank Of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup.

This is the first game of Down legend James McCartan’s second spell at the helm and fans of Down football will be hoping it can bring similar success to the first year of his first spell in charge which resulted in our run to the 2010 All Ireland final. Down have a tradition of coming good when it’s least expected so here’s hoping 2022 can be another year when we take the province and country by storm.

At the beginning of any campaign there is always an air of optimism around the county and we look forward to seeing some familiar faces back in the red and black as well as the chance to see new faces who are looking to make 2022 their breakthrough season.

Ahead of the Dr McKenna Cup and moving forward into the league and championship we wish James, Aidan and all the management, backroom and players a long, enjoyable and successful season.
