SUPER SUNDAY IN CLONDUFF CLUB!

140 adults and children left Clonduff Club on Sunday morning to attend the big match (Dublin v Kerry) in Croke Park. Meantime back home the games were relayed on the big screen in the club, or on such a glorious afternoon there was the option of watching the LFGA double header in Clonduff Park. Nearly everyone who travelled to Dublin returned to the Club for supper and the young people and their adults enjoyed the new Jungle Book movie – a delightful wee treat before school starts next week!

LADIES FOOTBALL

Clonduff U12 LGFA Tournament

Eight teams - 2 x Clonduff, Burren Rostrevor, Cumann Pheadar Naofa, Bosco, Bryansford, Castlewellan took part in the annual U12 tournament and many thanks to them for being part of it. It was a great festival of Ladies Football played in glorious conditions on Saturday morning. The teams played in two groups of four with the top two in each group playing in the semi finals of the Cup and the bottom two in the semi finals of the Shield. Clonduff Ógs defeated Cumann Pheadar Naofa in Cup Final; Burren defeated Bryansford in Shield Final. It was Wonderful morning of Ladies Football – everyone was a winner including the weather. Many thanks to Clonduff parents for providing and serving the lunch; the young U14 & U17 LGFA players who acted as referees umpires, runners and all those who helped in any way including Goretta and Noleen in the shop.

FOOTBALL

CLONDUFF SENIORS INTO CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS! Clonduff 2-10 v Castlewellan 0-14
Castlewellan started like an express train and were 3 points up in the first four mins and it was another five before Clonduff registered their first and they had drawn level by the 13th minutes. Arthur took a great catch out on the sideline on the quarter hour mark - he turned his ankle in the process but got off his shot to register a fantastic score for The Yellas to take the lead for the first time. but he had to be replaced 3 mins later - we wish you a speedy recovery Big Man! His replacement, Rían Branagan rattled the back of the net with his first touch to regain the lead 1-4 to 0-5. A few mins later Rían had a repeat performance and Clonduff led at the break 2-5 to 0-5.
On the restart Castlewellan were again aboard the express train and rattled off five consecutive points to just leave the minimum in it. Barry settled our nerves before Castlewellan was reduced to 14 and a few minutes later had another man sent off. You would have been forgiven for thinking 'game over' - Clonduff 4 points up and the opposition down to 13 and 20 mins to go! But not a bit of it! Castlewellan played their best football of the night in the last 15 mins of the game and but for the resolute defending of the Yellas and an unbelievable save from Neil Trainor in nets there may have been a different outcome.

It may have been a nervy ending for the Clonduff players, management and supporters but they showed a lot of character and could have just as easily lost the game. Well done everybody - you are in the semi final of the Senior Championship! Great achievement!
Team and scorers: Neil Trainor, Darren O'Hagan, Shane O'Hagan, Ruairi Lively, Brendan Britton, Rory Grant, Paul Lively (0-1), Aidan Carr, Niall Tumilty, Conor Óg O'Hagan, Stephen McConville (0-1f), Patrick O'Hagan (0-2,1x45), Arthur McConville (0-1), Finbarr McConville (0-1), Barry O'Hagan (0-2); Sub used: Rían Branagan (2-1), John Brown, Charlie Carr (0-1), Conor Brown, Shaun Murnin, John McPolin

PRFC and RFC Semi Finals

Clonduff II and III both went out of their respective championships in semi finals on Sunday. Clonduff III played Ballyholland II in Mayobridge at 12 noon and whilst they enjoyed the lion's share of possession they fell short at the final whistle 2-7 to 1-8.
In the PRFC semi final in Rostrevor at 2 pm Clonduff II came up against a very strong Burren II side and were on the wrong end of a 3-14 to 0-11 scoreline.

SD U16 FC Clonduff 7-10 v Mayobridge 5-15
The U16 footballers won their second group game in the Championship on Thursday evening. This was a very high scoring and entertaining game which could have gone either way. This result should secure a quarter final spot, a win in their final group game will put them straight into the semi final.
Team and scorers: James carvill, Kieran Mulholland, Darragh Fitzpatrick, Sean McCumisky, Shane Parr, Conor Parr, Charlie Kerr (0-1), Shay Fitzpatrick, Rory McKernan (1-0), Tom Close (0-1), Padraig wilson (0-1), Padraig kelly (1-2), Jamie O’Hagan (capt), Eamon Brown (2-4), Aidan Markey (3-1); Subs used: Ethan Lyness-Feenan, James Keenan, Rhys Rooney, Laurence Brannigan; Other subs: Ryan woods, Conor Fitzpatrick, Eugene Lively, Pearse Cunningham, Oran Wilson, Declan Hudson

U14 FC Shamrocks 2-7 v Clonduff 2-11
Clonduff were away to Shamrocks for their second round championship game. They took the game by storm right from the word go and got the first score of the game.
The boys played direct ball into the full forward line and chased in after - Oran Wilson scored a brilliant first goal home. Daire Lavery and Peter McEvoy got the ball time and time again with superb back-up from Ciarán Brannigan, Oisin Tumilty and Will Kelly. Credit must go to the mid field and half backs for playing the quick early ball to give us the advantage. Shamrocks just could not break the strong defence line; Clonduff held their nerve and cleared their line every time to a Clonduff player.

This team played with real passion and refused to be beaten on the night. They were a credit to the game and to themselves. Management is delighted with the brilliant performance and it proved to be an excellent game for all supporters to watch. Thanks to the Parents and family members for being there to support your children. It means so much to all the players.
Team: Darragh McAlinden, James Brannigan, Aaron Norris, Conor McCumiskey, Ronan Matthews, Laurence Brannigan, Jayme McDonald, Padraig Clancy, Padraig Morgan, Ciarán Brannigan, Oisin Tumilty, Will Kelly, Oran Wilson, Daire Lavery, Peter McEvoy; Subs: Patrick Cowan, Thomas woods, Aaron Gribben, Ben Magee, Aodhan Quinn, Shane Close, Gareth Cowan, Shay Brennan, Charlie Brown and Jake Morgan
