Down GAA Gaeltacht Scholarships 2022

Tá lúcháir ar choise chultúrtha CLG An Dúin na scoláireachtaí Gaeltachta a thabhairt amach dár mbaill óga. The Down GAA Cultural Committee are delighted to be able to present Gaeltacht scholarships once more to some of our young members.

After a break of 2 years, it is heartwarming to see that the Irish Summer Colleges in the Gaelacht areas are re-opneing this summer. It is further a cause for celebration that so many of our young people are embracing the opportunity to attend these courses once more.

At the start of June, 75 young Down GAA members took part in our Gaeltacht Scholarship Interviews, which included questions as Gaeilge. The committee was ‘blown away’ with the high standard of Irish and cultural awareness of these young Gaels.

On 15th June, 25 successful participants received their £200 award towards their stay in the various Gaeltacht courses being run this summer. These young Down Gaels will bring so much to the various Gaeltacht courses and likewise, will return having further developed their Irish languages and cultural awareness and will be able to bring these new skills back into their clubs and our county.
