First ACFL Div 1 title for Warrenpoint

It’s been a long time coming…. These were the words of Warrenpoint Captain Ryan Boyle after tonight’s historic league title for the seaside men.
In what can only be described as a nail biting first half, the point men soon knew the Ford men weren’t going to hand them any silverware on a plate.
Scoring 4 goals rarely sees a team beat, however the superbly polished Warrenpoint men couldn’t pin point one single scorer, they had numerous boys pushing forward wanting their name of the score sheet. In the end the seaside men tipped over score after score, much to the massive crowds delight who knew history was being made. In a year of trials and tribulations, of what if’s….. it was wonderful to see the open pitch of Pairc Liam Ui Ir packed to capacity and the jubilant, loyal supporters of Cumann Pheadair Noafa finally see their team victorious.
County Chair man John  Deveney praised the club for their strength and character and highlighted that no one could deny this team, who have been knocking on the door, the chance to add their clubs name to the division one cup for the first time.
