Kilcoo blow away Enniskillen Gaels to book another Ulster final berth

Sunday 27th November 2022

Kilcoo flexed their considerable muscle this evening to brush aside Enniskillen Gaels and advance towards their third consecutive Ulster club senior football championship final.

The All-Ireland champions’ dominant first-half display at the Athletic Grounds saw them romping to a 3-14 to 1-9 victory over their Fermanagh counterparts.

Shealan Johnston grabbed both of the Magpies goals in the first-half as they took in an unassailable 2-8 to 0-1 interval lead.

Ryan Johnston also went close to rattling the Gaels’ net before half-time but a brilliant save from Cian Newman denied his side another green flag.

The Erne County champions improved in the third quarter, outscoring Kilcoo by 0-4 to 0-2 before substitute Eoin Beacom hammered in their goal.

That was as good as it got for the Gaels though as Aaron Morgan palmed in the Mourne men’s third goal ahead of points from Ceilum Doherty, Miceal Rooney, Eugene Branagan and Paul Devlin rounding off the 11-point win.

Safely through to next month’s provincial decider, Kilcoo now await the winners of tomorrow’s other semi-final clash between Cargin and Glen in Omagh (1.30pm).
